Have been following @craftsforgreen on Instagram for awhile after spotting some really cute terrariums on their feed. So when they offered us an opportunity to try our hands at making one for Christmas, I couldn’t resist!
Their Christmas-themed craft party included a few workshops:
Building a terrarium with Christmas figurines
It’s the first time we are using moss instead of soil for the terrarium. I must say I like it better with the lesser mess.
The moss was broken into smaller portions to fit them nicely into the glass terrarium.
@craftsforgreen provided adorable Christmas figurines for the kids to choose what they would like to put inside their terrariums.
The challenge was really getting our hands in to arrange the figurines. Left it up to the kids cos they can do better with their smaller hands.
Tadah! 立刻就有 Christmas feels!
Tip to share from a girlfriend: moss terrariums don’t do as well in enclosed terrariums, so do remember to air them every now and then!
Making a snowman clay magnet
With polymer clay, the kids got to mould a snowman of their own!
Because it was graduation year, the cub made a snowman with the (almost) 四方帽 !
Just gotta glue the magnet to the clay after it’s baked ready,
and there you go!
Cupcake Decorating with @nevercraveandthirstagain
Then the kids got to decorate cupcakes with @nevercraveandthirstagain!
Love how easy they made it for the kids to jazz up their muffin / cupcakes.
The only challenge is getting the kids to STOP eating the food for decoration!
The kids and I totally enjoyed the entire craft party. @craftsforgreen provided everything, so we only had to appear and get our hands dirty.
After demonstration, the friendly and patient facilitators would move around the class to provide assistance to the kids who might need a little help here and there.
I liked that despite that, the facilitators still pretty much let the kids try on their own to put together their terrariums and magnets. As for me, I got to learn alongside with them and bring home cute works the kids came up with!
Now I’m contemplating if I should do a craft party for the dragonlady’s birthday celebration!
