With Good Friday (and Easter Sunday) coming soon, SpurBox has a festive baking class for kids to make their own rabbit, chick and egg cake pops! Besides that, there are also craft work to make an Easter bunny and storytelling as well!
The instructor prepped the kids by sharing with them what to expect from today’s session. Then, she moved onto demonstrating to them in simple steps what they are supposed to do when they go back to their work stations.
For my kids who have zero experience in the kitchen, these all seemed pretty foreign to them. Ha! But smashing a cake? That’s something they can definitely do!
And enjoy doing it!
While waiting for the cakes to freeze, the kids were treated to a story-telling session about Rabbits and Eggs.
Thereafter, we made our own little Easter Bunny with some simple crafting materials! This is something I can definitely do again with the kids.
By the time we were done with our Easter Bunnies, the cakes were ready to be decorated! This proved to be the most challenging bit for us. Even though the instructor demonstrated how to decorate the cake pops, we struggled with the shaping of the ears and keeping the eyes/mouth sticking to where they were supposed to be.
The assistant instructors wasn’t able to help everyone because of a larger crowd than usual for this session. Our cake-pops turned out more Halloween-ish than Easter-ish, hence no pictures!
But the kids had some good fun with the hands-on workshop nonetheless!
Due to some technical glitches, the class we attended was oversubscribed and was a little more chaotic than I had expected with many more kids and many more parents. Otherwise, I would think this baking classroom is spacious enough and the assistant instructors should be better able to help everyone in the workshop on usual days!
