Back to Melbourne posts! Day 4’s highlights were the seal watching cruise and penguin parade at Philip Island. Knowing the area we were heading to, we included some other stops along the way to fill up the time in between.
Located just 1km past the bridge to Philip Island, The Philip Island Chocolate Factory would be the first stop of our day. We didn’t have time to explore the exhibits at Pannys Amazing World of Chocolate, which by the way, requires admission fees and about 45 minutes of your time. BUT, we didn’t leave without some chocolates!
We didn’t get to do any wine tasting at Yarra Valley but that’s not to say we couldn’t do one on Philip Island! After some googling the night before, we shortlisted Purple Hen to check out cos of its cute name. At just A$5 per person, we got to taste a good selection of red and white wines (and shared a teeny weeny bit with the kiddos too). The wine tasting fee is refundable with any bottle purchase. We bought two!
The vineyard makes a beautiful backdrop for pictures.
We loaded up at The Fat Seagull next, which is less than a minute of drive away from the jetty where we would be taking the cruise from.
We booked our seal watching cruise with Wildlife Coast Cruises. I thought it was a nice touch for them to provide cakes and hot drinks for passengers to fight the chilly winds.
The cub had a really good time now that he’s a little more adventurous than before. He was so excited to see the seals approaching our boat! The lil’ dragonlady missed out on all the action as she dozed off just before we reached the Seals Rock and refused to wake up despite our attempts to disturb her.
Squeezed in a grocery run after the cruise so that we would have ingredients to prepare dinner when we get back to the city later in the night.
Finally, Penguin Parade at Churchill! The colors of the skies here were amazing. It was a little chilly sitting out there waiting for the penguins to come home, but the little guys in tux were really cute. We got to see some of them home before we headed back to our hotel too.
