While researching for our itinerary and trying to figure out how to squeeze the GOR and 12 Apostles into it, I was thinking to myself “These are just rocks. Do we really have to go ALL THE WAY there to see them?” So glad we did in the end because I was totally blown away by the grandeur of it all when we got there.
From Macka’s Farm, it took about 5 minutes of drive to get to Gibson Steps – one of the lookout points for 12 Apostles. It’s accessible via a walking trail from the 12 Apostles Visitor Centre too.
From the (small) viewing platform, we can get a pretty nice view of the ocean and bits of the 12 Apostles.
But you really gotta see from the beach level to be awed! So be prepared to walk down all the steps (and up after).
The cliff and ocean looked magnificent! We were so incredibly awed by Mother Nature.
Next, the Twelve Apostles which is just a minute of drive away from Gibson Steps.
This lookout point is much less strenuous and kids-friendly with just a couple of steps to climb, lots of space on the walkway at the viewing areas, and secured railings.
So we pretty much let the kids explore the area and take in the beautiful scenery on their own.
Before we load up at Red Rooster and head back to the city!
