Given the hotel’s rates and name, I was somewhat disappointed with Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s level of service. But we didn’t have much of a choice since there are only two hotels on site.
First impression didn’t go too well when they couldn’t give us a room even though we arrived at the hotel around 330pm. Their check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 11am, 2 hours more than the usual hotels’ standards! I had chosen off-peak days to travel – Sunday to Tuesday. Can’t imagine how many times more chaotic it would be during peak season.
The staff gave out stickers (all the time!) to kids to keep them entertained
Secondly, when we asked about ordering a cake for our little girl, they told us they needed to be informed 48 hours before! And we were only asking for a regular cake, not some fancy cake. I’m pretty sure the restaurants in the hotel serve desserts! They kept telling us it cannot be done after calling their colleagues. That was cue for the husb to step in and I brought the kids to explore the lobby while waiting for our room to be ready. By the time our room was ready, the husb got the cake settled with them.

Because this trip is in the name of our lil’ dragonlady’s birthday celebration, I added the ‘Celebration Overlay’ in my booking and informed that it was for my daughter’s second birthday. Having previously worked in a hotel where doing up guests rooms to wow guests is quite the norm, having to pay for this was a little strange to me. Nonetheless, I wanted to see the Disney magic!
Celebration sticker on the door! This made it easier for the kids to look for our room.
( Oh, and they gave us two beds instead of a king-sized bed! -__- )
Fascinated with the “cake”
Guess this makes it worth the $$!
Closer look at some of the items.
It’d be perfect if the card was addressed to the birthday girl herself and signed off by one of the Disney characters!
In case anyone is interested to know, Celebration Overlay can be included at HKD1099.
