With essentially only 1.5 days to get shopping and massages done, we could only cover places in the vicinity of our hotel, Centara Grand. Fortunately, we can easily access Central World by taking the lift to the 7th floor of the hotel and walking through the carpark to get to the mall. And this was where we spent the bulk of our time!
Sharing some of the loot here:
Cath Kidston, Basement 1. (Nearer to the Isetan side of the mall)
The thing about having little girls is we are really spoiled for choices when it comes to getting things for them. Spotted the little floral bag at Cath Kidston and thought it would look the cutest on our little girl. And when we saw that the same pattern came in a sling bag for the adults, the husb indulged in my attempt to have a matching bag with my baby girl!
Jelly Dreams, Basement 1 (Further down from Cath Kidston, near Naraya)
Melissa! Need I say more? 🙂 They are cheaper only if there are some in-house discount in addition to the tax refund and strong S$. Otherwise, price is about the same. It will depend on your luck on the variety of colors and models available!
The departmental stores in Bangkok are my go-to places whenever I need to update my inner wear wardrobe. They have plenty more pretty designs (especially Wacoal’s!) than what we can get here, and at a much cheaper price! Plus there is usually some promotion going on. So we get more savings from the promotions, tourist discounts, tax refund and strong S$.
Besides Zen, there is Isetan to check out if the design you want is out of stock at Central World. Otherwise, walk a little further to another departmental store, Central Chid Lom, to check on stock!
Keep your eyes peeled for goodies as you walk along the roadside stalls that lead to Siam Square / Siam Paragon. These earrings cost only 100 baht for four pairs!
Just days before our trip, I heard on the radio that Zara is one of the labels that are cheaper to get in Bangkok than in Singapore. The husb was all mai-tu-liao and got more loot from Zara at Siam Paragon while I bought clothes for the kids again! So there, that’s how we spent our 1.5 days shopping mostly at the malls!
