The reason for this summer trip was to attend my cousin-in-law’s graduation from med school.
We rented cars again for the trip to Southampton. Really looked forward to days with wheels cos the train stations are really stroller-unfriendly!
Woohoo for aircon in the crazy heat too!
The campus was bustling with the new graduates and their families who came from all over the world. I could feel the sense of pride in the air from all the parents! As we explored the campus, I told the husb that it would take another 2 decades or so before our turn to beam with pride. That is, if they are going down the path to college!

Then it was time to explore Southampton a bit before heading back to London. We parked at WestQuay Shopping Centre and went to lunch in the vicinity.

Knowing that we wanted to get baby stuff during this trip, the husb’s cousin brought us to a giganto warehouse-sized Mothercare store located at West Quay Retail Park. I felt like I was in shopping heaven and wanted to grab whatever I see! The husb and I were sorely disappointed to learn that it was just 30 minutes to closing and promptly got down to work separately – he went to get the car seat which was our main to-get item, while I promptly grabbed whatever I could during the limited time we had here.
Yes, they were really cheap! If I had more time, I would get the ELC stuff and settle this year’s Christmas gifts for all the kids I know. If they had stock, I’d probably lug another stroller back too! How we wished we were staying at Southampton for a night or two!
Then we returned to WestQuay Shopping Centre to meet the rest of the entourage.
