I hate ants. I really do. This is going to make me sound like a psycho but let’s be clear of the extent of my attitude towards ants. I burn them if I have the option to cos they don’t die when you step on them anymore, or paste tape over them and leave their bodies there as a warning to the rest that I’m not one to be trifled with. The latter worked once or twice, but it could be flukes.
I won’t mind them if they are appearing at places that they are supposed to – e.g. soil on the ground, kitchen (though preferably not!), etc. But NO-NO-NO when they appear on the babies’ milk station! I get so frustrated watching them run all over the shelf. Besides tape, I tried ant baits that I bought from supermarkets. It worked for a couple of days and the ants were back in business again. How very useless. And it didn’t make me feel good knowing that some of these ants who stepped all over the bait (poison) were leaving their footprints on my sterilized bottles. (Yes, I still sterilize my kids’ bottles!)
Then came the discovery of KONK. I read about the experiences from friends who have tried the product(s) and were full of praises for it. With dengue spreading at alarming rates, it was good to know that they don’t see any flying insects after they started using the product but what really caught my attention was when I read that there was no ants even after food was left out in the open for a good while!
To be honest, I was a little skeptical in the beginning. Afterall, if poison is not working, why would something so safe and nice-smelling work? I went to read up on more on Our Lifestyle Shop and after being assured again and again that it’s safe for kids, I finally got one Automated KONK to try out.
It took about a week or so before I noticed that the ants were not appearing as often. Usually we would wake up to a massive ant trail to the bin when we trashed our takeaway food wrapped tightly in plastic bags. But after using KONK, no more such occurrences! To be sure, we did try a few times and am glad to report that the ants were truly disappearing from my sight. Even lizards which I see occasionally every now and then at night are not appearing as well.
Then came our trip to Switzerland+London. I thought it was good opportunity to see if the room was holding up well against these pests with KONK at work while we were away. I was mighty pleased to see no ants and no lizards when we returned! The hassle free automated dispensing helps keep the pest situation under control even when we were not around. With no choking odor like typical insecticide, KONK gives the room a nice smell with a faint scent of chrysanthemum as well.
To make sure that it was really to KONK’s credit that I FINALLY got rid of the pests in the one month we used it, I took about 10 days or so before getting my order in for replenishment. The ants are slowly making their appearance again. But at least this time, I know what works to get rid of them. So besides the replenishment, I will get another unit for my mum’s room that the kids (mostly my daughter now) frequently mess up with milk powder and food.
