Mommy is very sorry you seem to have become the neglected child. I don’t think you ever had a proper milestone charting post written for you. And that’s on top of the fact that you have to sleep with your grandparents on nights when Daddy and Mommy have to work the next day. Do know that we miss you a lot but it’s really for our sanity that we have to do this and to conserve energy for our weekends together!
Let me try to recall our past months and put together your little milestones.
In your first three months, I prayed very hard that you will not have colic. For your sake as well as mine. I remember how hard it was on your gorgor and how helpless we felt. I still don’t know how to fix colic, so I hoped we could escape it this time. And thankgod, we did.
You are quite the opposite from your brother at this stage – he fed well but did not do well in the sleeping department. You napped quite a lot during your early months, which I’m very grateful for ‘cos that meant we could have an easier time managing two.
I wouldn’t say you don’t do well in feeding. It’s probably us not used to your feeding habits. Your brother had an appetite that grew fast and furious. At five months old now, you are still feeding at 120ml/3 hours, and can even forgo your feed if you are too sleepy! Mommy ain’t complaining since we save some money and it’s good that you have a smaller appetite since you are a girl.
Because you have a small appetite, we are not rushing to start you on solids as well. Let’s see how you do this month before we start on solid food menu planning for you!
Between 2-3 months old, you started showing us how smiley a baby you are. We only have to look at you and smile, and you would smile or do a little coo in delight. I’m glad you are blessed to be easily contented, my baby girl.
You are starting to recognize us more and I’m glad to report that Mommy here is one of your preferred choices. You now know to lean towards me to get me to carry you from the others, and always look so excited to see me when I get home from work. It makes all the rushing from work to home very worthwhile. 🙂
Some other milestones you have achieved are:
Holds head steady
You have pretty good strength in your neck since 3mo – always wanting to sit up be it in our arms or stroller.
Visually tracks moving objects
You have plenty of practice watching the older 3 play in front of you. I’m glad they keep you entertained during the day when I’m not around.
Squeals, gurgles, coos / Smiles, laughs
Gawd, you are SO ADORABLE when you make these little baby sounds. Especially when I play “tickle, tickle’ with you. I love it when you coo in response as I chat with you.
You are clearly enjoying yourself when you do this, but it’s aggravating the eczema on your face!
Can bear weight on legs
You love having a view and enjoy it when we carry you upright. Many a times, you try to stand upright while I carry you. And you can actually stand a good few seconds when I pull you up.
Plays with her hands and feet
Recognizes own name
You are officially the sweetie at home. Your grandpa has given you the nickname – 甜甜! That’s cos your name sounds like it – read Teanne (Tea-anne) twice very quickly!
You recognize that we are calling for you when we say 甜甜 now and will give us the sweetest smile in response. Besides your nick, you respond to 妹妹 because we call you that quite often in front of your gorgor.
Sits momentarily without support
For about two months now, it seems that you have been feeling lots of discomfort in your gums. You try to put every thing into the little mouth of yours.
Mommy got lucky and won you a wooden teether for you from myecobabe. Hope that helps you relieve some discomfort!
Hoping that I can keep up with this milestones log for you, my precious little one. Mommy loves you heaps!
