Yay to another long weekend! We headed to Jurong Bird Park on this Hari Raya Haji holiday. It was a mad hot day over at the Bird Park with lots of tourists and local families. Bummer was losing my Gucci sunnies before we even started on our exploration.
We got there just in time for the King of the Skies show and could only get seats a few rows from the back.
|(fortunately, I kept another pair of sunnies in the car)|
Poor Teanne was covered in perspiration cos of the heat by now.
The husb and I were pleasantly surprised that we could have a face-to-face encounter with one of the eagles when the trainer walked through our row! Excellent opportunity for our cubs to take a closer look at the magnificent creature.
We got to see some breeds of eagles (including the Bald Eagle, which I like!), owls, and vultures during the show.
We wanted to catch the penguin feeding session but it was too hot to stand in the sun and left soon.
The husb and I give each other a big smile whenever we see Thaddeus able to recognize animals familiar to him. It makes all the outings to see these animals worthwhile!
In comparison, we would much prefer the zoo because the Bird Park is not as stroller-friendly. There are many slopes and stairs leading to the birds, and the lanes are pretty tight for stroller+tram to move together.
Also, it was kinda depressing watching the birds because they are all in huge-ass cages. I know that is necessary so that they cannot fly away but it was just sad. At least most animals in the zoo do not have a physical cage to limit their movements.
Plus the fact that the Bird Park is too far from where we stay, I guess we are not going back any time soon.
