Dear baby cub,
At 13 months old, the baby websites have decided that you are no longer a baby but a toddler. As much as I hope to keep you as baby-ish for as long as possible, you are growing up so quickly!
|like a boss|
You are picking things up fast and I love how enthusiastic you are about the new “tricks” we taught you.
I taught you to raise up your hand whenever you hear your first and last name being called. That is going to come in handy when you go to school! Everyone, including yourself, is very amused whenever you do that.
Your 公公 and 婆婆 taught you how to do the goodbye kiss. But you the cheeky fella, would not do it when we ask you to.
It didn’t take much for you to learn how to wash your hands given how much kids like to play with water.
And you have learned how to climb the stairs by holding onto the railings! We are still quite amazed because nobody taught you how to. You just pulled yourself up by holding onto the railings and moved step by step upwards. WELL DONE, my cub!!
With your new found skill, you are able to join your Daddy where he sits and snacks.
The Grandparents’ Room is your favourite play room. You can sit there and entertain yourself with your toys and books all afternoon. I’m relieved that TV doesn’t do that for you.
It’s a joy to watch how much you enjoy your bath times. Although I must say, we don’t look forward to the part when we have to force carry you out of the tub! Can’t wait til we get our new place so that we can bring you go have more fun in the pool.
Not everything gets easier with your growing up. In fact, we have been facing some regression recently.
For the past few weeks, you have been sleeping with us even on work nights. You used to just sleep, whine for milk, and drink in your sleep. These days, you keep waking up crying for me to carry you between 3-5am. Baby cub, that is brutal as Mommy and Daddy gotta wake up around 6.40am!! It seems like you have separation anxiety but that’s weird because your cot is just next to me!
The good out of the bad is that you will stop as soon as I carry you to sleep on me, and we can probably last til the time my alarm clock goes off. However, I don’t think we can do this for long as my tummy is going to grow even bigger.
The intermittent sleep nights have been tough but having this face to look at in the morning before going to work makes it all worthwhile. At least for now! ;p
Feeding wise. You still don’t like porridge but we discovered that you rather like rice mixed with toufu or steamed eggs. Oh wells, if you prefer rice..even better for us then!
At your last vaccination and paed’s check two days ago, you are now at 11.8kg. Weight gain is slowing down most probably because you are very much more active now. You prefer to be crawling or climbing up stairs or couches.
Now that you are used to going out every day with your grandparents, you become quite a grouch when you have stay at home with us on weekends. So now we try to bring you out as much as we can and it helps to deplete your energy more effectively too!
Soon, we will have to figure out how to bring you and your lil’ sis out without your Daddy and I collapsing from fatigue. 😉
