Dear baby boy, it’s been about 17 weeks since you’re out of Mommy’s tummy! How do you love the world so far?
Mine became so much more beautiful because of you. Being a SAHM is not easy but I cherish all these extra time I get to spend with you because you grow so quickly! Like what your Daddy said, kids are only cute for that few years. Ha!
You may have already heard this umpteenth times that your grandparents can’t wait for you to turn 4months old. They have grand plans for you to taste some real food (just taste, no eating yet) and for you to try out the walker and exersaucer! Your Grandpa had went ahead to get new textiles for the walkers at home, washed and fixed them up for you last week. Talk about being excited! However, do not get your hopes too high for the food tasting bit because your mother (aka ME!) will not let it happen too soon. I need to do some preparation work before I start you on those because it’s a road of no return!
I’m really glad that you are getting along well with your grandparents. In fact, they are the ones who can make you do tummy time without much fuss. How unfair, when I put in so much effort playing with you to get you to do tummy time! Can I take that you recognize Mommy to be the one you can bully?
Your grandparents also entertain you with their singing practice at home and you seem to know when to give the look of approval and the look of uh-no when the pitch seems abit off. Your Grandma is amused and takes your “advice” to a certain extent! I hope you’re just as tickled as your Grandpa when he makes you do funny poses for the camera.
A post on those pics is in order!
Milestones wise, we’ve scored some flips two days ago! FINALLY!! You did the first one the moment I turned away from the cot. I turned back when I heard a knock and realised you knocked your head when you flipped over. Thankgoodness, it was just a gentle knock! I can’t quite get you to do more flips because you don’t have much patience for tummy time. Let me try to figure out what else we can do to help you along!
You have realized the magic mirror and smile whenever you can see the reflection of both of us in a mirror. That is one of the distractions I like to use whenever I need to stop you from crying at our nap battles. Speaking of which, nap training is going not too bad. I scored a couple of long naps (2-3 hours) during this period. Let’s hope you learn to take naps without the mad crying soon!
We are trying to have you get used to sleeping in the Stokke and carseat as well by bringing you out whenever we can. So far, we’ve only been successful when you are just too tired to put up a fight.
You smile and chuckle (sometimes!) when we chat or play with you these days. I love how generous you are with your smiles these days. Never lose them, my baby! It makes me so happy whenever you try to respond to me talking to you by your nguh-oohh-aahhs. I will enjoy them til the time you start to hound me with your incessant “why, Mommy?”. 😉
And *drumroll*…you can play on your own and make loud ayy-ahhs when you’re at it! Okay, it may only be for a short while of 5-10 minutes but these are so precious to me because you clearly enjoy it!
The drools and saliva bubbles have started. Not a pretty sight, my boy! All the fists-in-mouth are worsening the saliva situation and causing irritation around your chin area. Given that the teething stage is coming soon, I guess I will have to get used to this and manage your symptoms. Hope the teething process will not be too hard on you and me. *fingers crossed*
Oh, umm..Mommy is sorry that she’s made you more botak than before. You had quite a fair bit of hair on the top of your head but they were removed along with the cradle cap when I applied olive oil for you. Sorry, baby!
Now that you’re getting a whole lot more interactive and staying awake for longer hours, I need to find us more activities to keep you on the learning curve, aka tire you out! We have so far, started on some reading of baby books, newspapers and magazines. Baby books don’t seem to attract you as much as the magazines, probably cos pages in the magazines are pretty colorful and Mommy here does read her magazines with much more enthusiasm for obvious reasons. Newspapers bore you within 15 minutes. Must be all that black and white!
Hope you love spending all your time with Mommy so far!
