More than a year has passed and I finally got my wish! Most appropriate timing when Ruth came to visit and pass me this at the hospital after I gave birth.
Knowing how traditional my folks are, red eggs are a definite must-have for 满月. Inspired by our nest of 3, the husb and I decided that we do some minor changes to our 满月 favor. My idea was to pack the eggs into small bags with shredded paper so that it looks like a nest with eggs. Instead of 2 red eggs for our guests, the husb suggested that we add a little egg (quail’s egg) as well so that it represents our family of 3.
Time was short for the preparation as Thaddeus was admitted into KKH two days before the event, so we had to stay up to finish all the preparation after he was discharged a day before his 满月. From the cooking of more than 150 eggs, dyeing them, waiting for them to cool and finally packing them into bags, we couldn’t have got the favors ready in time without my grandma, parents and brother.
Besides the eggs, I wanted to get something cuter for the 满月 favors too. Did a search online and found Party in a Bag. Initially I wanted to get the measuring tape, which is practical and useful in the house (especially for those of us who buy clothes from the internet!), but it was out of stock. Next practical and cute item I found was the “New Baby on the Block” sticky notes, which was packaged to look like an alphabet block kids play with. Got that and we were almost set!
Last but not least, we got the 满月 cake from our favourite cake shop – Pine Gardens, which is just a highway exit away. We chose the design that looked like a gift because Thaddeus is a gift from God to us. 🙂
