2010 has definitely been an experience. I, or maybe I should say, WE became pregnant with our first child. The husb convenient shifts the blame of his growing appetite and forgetfulness to sympathetic pregnancy.
Firstly, we are very thankful we didn’t really have to wait that long to have this piece of good news. Secondly, despite the challenges in the pregnancy, our baby has been growing well. That is a great deal to be thankful and gives us much relief.
As the pregnancy journey goes, it becomes apparent how helpful it is to be staying with family. My parents have been re-arranging the furniture at home to make space for our new addition whenever we are not at home. It’s quite tough because the strongest man in the family aka my husb is not around to help out.
家有一老，如有一宝. My paternal grandma is the typical Cantonese who is a great cook and knows how to make soup best. I may not drink them often because I can be very fussy with the smell and the taste but they do try quite a variety to earn more hits than misses. Good thing she knows how dai-siu-jeh (大小姐) I can be since young.
So now, I’m starting to do food-tasting for my confinement. My mum decided to do trial-and-error with the taste now so that I won’t have excuse not to take these during confinement. Today, we kick off the food-tasting with the longan-red-dates drink, which would be the staple drink during confinement. 🙂
We are very much thankful for these support!
And our darling nephew..Matt! Because of him, we got a peek of how life is going to be with a kid. We get lots of hands-on with him too. He’s such a dear and very special to us ‘cos he made us feel that we can do this whole parenthood thing!
Amazing timing amongst us friends with many in my different circles becoming pregnant as well! It’s awesome that we get to share the experience and journey together.
Many friendships grew stronger in the past year. I’m glad for friends who are ever supportive, dishing out great advice whenever needed, and simply accepting me for who I am. You girls are the BEST!
So looking forward to having our kids build friendships together, just like us!
I sound like a broken record but the husb is really a blessing to me! He’s been a pillar of strength for me when the going got pretty tough, having to deal with pregnancy symptoms and some nonsense in life. Not to mention, being a physical support when I have trouble walking or moving around as well.
He’s the most wonderful husband and I can’t wait to see what sorta Dad he is going to be. 😉
Before joining the family, my son has taught me a lot – namely, tolerance and patience.
Because of him, I’ve learned to tolerate the symptoms because it means that he’s growing.
Because of him, I’ve learned to tolerate pain and discomfort because I avoid medication whenever possible.
Because of him, I’ve learned to be patient in my course of waiting for his arrival, thereby learning how to keep the end in mind.
Because of him, I’ve learned to be patient with myself – allowing my body to go along with the changes of pregnancy and not be so hard on myself when I can’t get used to the changes.
We’re very thankful we have you..and can’t wait to see you, baby!
