It’s been a busy week. M&M is able to hear us now but we haven’t had much time and energy to try to connect to him. It’ll be great if he can read my thoughts because I do “talk” to him through my thoughts throughout the day.
Besides movements, the tummy has been feeling very stretched. Some days, the pain from the stretch can be so bad I would be holding my tummy as I walk. Little wonder why people think I’m in my third trimester.
Because of the scoliosis, my back aches have been quite bad. As the lower back arches forward to support the growing tummy, the back ache gets aggravated. My physiotherapist advised that I should get a maternity belt to help alleviate the pressure on my lower back, and a heat pad to relieve the strain on the back muscles.
She also advised that I may have to do bed rest if the aches get too much to bear in the third trimester. Eeps!
This pregnancy really made me learn the hard way how important the back is to us women especially! It was unfortunate that the school nurses didn’t discover my scoliosis during my primary school days when it was still correctable. My cousin managed to correct it through swimming when the school nurses highlighted it to her.
By the time my mum discovered that I had this problem, I was already in poly. Too late! Mums, gotta look out for this during your kids’ growing up years! Don’t let them over-rely on one side of the back.
Now what I can do is just to take extra care of my back and load up on more calcium. We still have osteoporosis to worry about in the future. :\
